Easter Eggs are hidden messages and tricks inside of software. Many programmers like to leave behind a little something that only they or their team knows about...but the word always gets out somehow. Easter Eggs can be quite fun. Here are a few of our favorites:

bullet Microsoft Word 97:
bullet Open a new document
bullet Type in "Blue" and then select the word
bullet Choose the Format > Font option from the menu
bullet Choose Font Style Bold and color Blue
bullet Back in the document, type a space after "Blue"
bullet Choose the Help > About option from the menu
bullet On the Word icon, issue a Ctrl-Shift-Left Click
bullet A pinball game appears!
bullet Windows 95 Developer Credits:
bullet Create a new folder on the desktop and title it "and now, the moment you've all been waiting for"
bullet Then rename that folder to "we proudly present for your viewing pleasure" NOTE: when you rename the folder, you must click on the icon with right mouse button and choose rename for this egg to work correctly
bullet Rename the folder to "The Microsoft Windows 95 Product Team!"
bullet Open the folder, and the credits should be displayed.
bullet Microsoft Excel 97:
bullet In Excel 97, open a new blank worksheet.
bullet Press F5 (go to) and type in the range X97:L97, then click OK.
bullet Now press Tab once (this should put you in cell M97) and press Ctrl+Shift while clicking once on the chart wizard button (the blue-yellow-red barchart icon).
bullet After a few moments, you will be flying over an eerie fractal landscape. Fly around awhile using your mouse (right button for forward and left button for reverse, turn by moving mouse) and soon you'll notice a mesa with a shallow depression and a small scrolling shrine to Excel 97 and those who made it happen. Careful, the controls are very sensitive. You can exit the screen by pressing Ctrl+Shift+Esc (thanks to Phil for pointing this out).
bullet Palm Pilot:
bullet Description: "Error reading Drive C: Abort, Retry Fail?" (Since a Palm Pilot is a small, hand-held computer WITHOUT a hard drive, this is humorous)
bullet Start the Giraffe game
bullet Place your stylus on the top of the screen, then press the down button.
bullet Dove Evangelistic Tracking System:
bullet From the main screen, press Ctrl-F11 for a list of credits.
